Subject: Kenya - Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

A Canadian/Kenyan Team has been awarded the contract to undertake the planning, design and construction supervision for the
expansion and modernization of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. This multi-million dollar development project,
which is supported by the
World Bank under the Northern Corridor Project will improve security at the airport, increase capacity, provide a new area for
restaurants and retail, including the construction of a new terminal building. The objective is to bring the airport to international
standards and maintain its status as the “hub” for the region. The new design would accommodate the expected increase in
passengers and cargo, from the current passenger capacity of 3.45 million to 5.0 million by 2006. At present, the terminal exceeds its
capacity by more than one million passengers.

As a result of this rehabilitation and modernization, there will be major opportunities for suppliers of airport equipment and services,
including: Airbridges, Travelators/Escalators/Elevators, Baggage Conveyors, IT Systems, Security/Smart Card Systems, Baggage &
Passenger Reconciliation Systems, Glass Curtain Walling, Floor and Ceiling Finishes, Light Rail/Commuter Buses, Navigational
Aids, Waste Water Treatment Plant, etc.

It has come to our notice that a high-level GoK team comprising Kenya Airports Authority, Kenya Tourist Board, Ministries of
Transport and Tourism, will soon be going to look at airports in Shanghai and Beijing at the invitation of the Chinese government.
On their return, they will
make stops in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.

While the above opportunities will eventually go to tender, we would be grateful if you could provide a “heads-up” to companies that
might be interested in doing airports business in Africa. Grateful too for names of Canadian companies that have operations in China
for airports.
